As you like it. William Shakespeare.

"All the world is a stage and all the men and women merely players" Jaques, fool on As you like by William Shakespeare

Comedies of William Shakespeare are not as famous as dramatic plays. What is more, nature of theatre allowed them to be even more complicated when it comes to reading as comedies have been conceived to be seen on the stage. Similarly, you can no focus on the same values, on comedies by contrast one must discover the irony as it is main factor. As you like it

As you like it

It is a key element the way As you like it is performed and arrange, otherwise, it could not be so great. As you like it by William Shakespeare is particularly special inside the universe of William Shakespeare, versatility of Shakespeare can be discovered, he was able to pen an intense drama or pleasant comedies on the other hand. We can organize all the comedies of William Shakespeare in the following manner.

COMEDIES OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
New Comedy: The comedy of errors, Two gentleman of Verona

Pastoral genre : As you like it, midsummer night´s dream.

Problem plays: All´s well that ends well, Troilus and Cressida, Measure for measure.

Throughout the comedies of William Shakespeare relations between men and women are explained, love and its complexity likewise and even something else as "Merchant of Venice" proves where besides the relationship between Jewish people and Christian ones other subjects as money, friendship, law and ambition can be discovered.

It is overly difficult to say exactly the dates of publication of comedies of William Shakespeare, some were published on First Folio edition, others on Quarto and some were published once Shakespeare had passed away.  More or less we can establish the following dates:

COMEDIES OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Two gentleman of Verona 1590
The taming of the shrew 1591
Love´s Labour´s Lost 1594
The comedy of Errors 1594
A midsummer night´s dream 1595
The merchant of Venice 1596
The merry wives of Windsor 1597
As you like it 1599
Much ado about nothing 1599
Twelfth Night 1600
All´s well that ends well 1602
Troylus and Cressida 1603
Measure for measure 1604

Back to As you like it, one of the most mature comedies of William Shakespeare insofar as everything regarding the classic subjects of comedies are integrated. As you like it has lot of the pastoral genre, the scenery is a natural landscape it is not a palace nor the royal court, characters of As you like it disguise themselves, the main subject is love.

At that time, legal issues were very popular inasmuch as law would give everything to the first-born son of a family thereby the rest of the offspring were dependant on the decision of the first son, they may die with nothing there being no generosity at all. As you like it explodes this subject.

Shakespeare was inspired by "Rosalynde and Euphues Golden Legacy" written by Thomas Lodge and published in 1590. Lodge belonged to University Wits, writers from Oxford and Cambridge who lived in London pursuing a successful career in the world of literature. John Lyly was one of the most illustrious members of the group University Wits. As you like it by William Shakespeare was registered on August, 1600 alongside "Henry V", "Much ado about nothing" and "Every man in his humour" by Ben Jonson.

As you like it

One of the main characters of As you like it Jaques utters one of the most memorable sentences on the literature of William Shakespeare (you have read it at the beginning of this post). As you like it was performed for the first time in 1599 on the Globe. William Shakespeare was a creative genius, able to write dramatic plays as Henry V and at the same time write something so enjoyable as As you like it with a character called Rosalind  dazzling throughout the entire play, she escapes from court clad in men´s clothes but she keeps this male attire to show how a woman felt and lived on that epoch. King Lear. William Shakespeare.

King Lear tells of a king who divides his kingdom between his children that makes a conflict resulting in chaos and a civil war. One of the daughters, Cordelia, makes Lear angry as she refuses to answer Lear when he asks her to prove her filial love. King Lear

KING LEAR WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
King Lear disavows his counsellor the count of Kent, he does not listen to him thereby King Lear shares his kingdom amongst his elder daughters, Goneril and Regan. The decision is wrong, his two daughters humiliate him, King Lear lives with nothing as a result.

In the end the three sisters die and the ending of King Lear is more than pathetic, alienated, wanders alone like a crazy person. There is a second story on King Lear. Count Gloucester, counsellor and King Lear´s servant has two sons, he dismisses the one who is the first-born and the rightful heir and gives everything to the second one who is also a bastard.

JAMES I KING LEAR
James I was obsessed with the philosophy of the sacred character of monarchy epitomised in a royal person. King Lear shows the problems attached to someone who is handling a bad ruling, King Lear encourages the rivalry amongst his offspring, acts in a despotic way with counsellors and the huge differences between rich and poor can be devised. James I (King of England and Scotland at that time) could be reflected on this King Lear
.

KING LEAR
King Lear was registered on 26th of November, 1607 in Stationer´s Register, it was opened for the first time in the palace of Whitehall on December, 26th. William Shakespeare was inspired by four plays to write King Lear.

Likewise, a true judicial case in which two sisters wanted to make believe their dad was crazy so that obtain a hefty sum of money  served Shakespeare, yet the third one called Cordell (by the way) shunned the dirty deed. Shakespeare makes an eclectic use of a wide range of sources to write its own play, he combines details, plots to create its own last dramatic play, his more complex ever. King Lear.

KING LEAR
King James I represented the Kingdom of Scotland (since 1567 as James VI) and the kingdom of England after Elizabeth I in 1603, each kingdom had its own Church, Parliament.. the two countries were one because of his persona. Belonging to The King´s Men, Shakespeare enjoyed royal protection, yet he had nonetheless some duties that made him to respect authority.

As a matter of fact, after writing King Lear, William Shakespeare did only write romances. Both Lear and James I widely enjoy hunting, a luxury lifestyle, a great number of manservants or they both squandered a large sum of money on anything. King Lear is deep and ambiguous, the mistake of King Lear is believe power is all his. King Lear Read this in Spanish King Lear

THE TEMPEST BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
The Tempest is the last play written entirely by William Shakespeare, it was performed for the first time in 1611 and it is often deemed as his literary testament. In fact, we can infer reading the text some hints aim at this direction. William Shakespeare might have hid an underlying farewell as well on the play The Tempest The Tempest

The Tempest William Shakespeare
The Tempest William Shakespeare

After severe dramas as Hamlet or King Lear, The Tempest belongs to other group of plays called romance ones that are less serious. We have read a conversation between Prospero and Ariel at the beginning of this post. Prospero is a succesful magician and Ariel his helper who makes true all the wishes of Prospero.

Prospero is always talking about Sycorax, a witch that does not appear on the play, yet of whom Prospero is afraid, Sycorax had cursed Ariel to be on a island forever. Prospero has promised Ariel to make him free hence Ariel is to do anything Prospero wants. Prospero lives in the island with his daughter Miranda and also Caliban who is the son of this witch Sycorax. Prospero does hate Caliban.

Prospero and her daughter have been living on that island because the brother of Prospero Fernando took advantage of the deep studies of Prospero as far as magic is concerned to make a coup d'etat so that be the king of Milan, Prospero was sent to an island with his daughter.

THE TEMPEST WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Can be interesting to say that The Tempest was inspired by two famous plays, "The Aeneid" and a traduction by Montaigne of a essay called "Of Cannibals" but it is inspired by two travel journeys one of them "Discovery of the Bermudas" by Silvestre Jourdan and other one widely popular "True Reportory of the Wracked" by William Strachey. Likewise, William Shakespeare also read a document about the state of Virginia, located in the current United States of America.

The Tempest William Shakespeare
Miranda depicted on the famous The Tempest painting

Prior to this scene there is a conversation between Prospero and Ferdinand in which Prospero allows Ferdinand to marry his daughter if they do not sleep together until they are married. Ferdinand agrees. In order to fulfill such an important commitment, 3 goddesses, Juno, Ceres and Iris carry out a masque to celebrate it and praise the values that marriage epitomize. After the scene, Trinculo, Stephanus and Caliban try to kill Prospero, yet Ariel is by his side hence they are not to be so lucky.

 THE TEMPEST WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Roughly, there are 3 main themes on this play The Tempest. First of all, power and how it is handled. Secondly, contraposition between nature on its primitive state, art and culture.

Thirdly, Colonization of new territories. Given the peculiarity of the relationship between Prospero and Ariel, that is the key and one of the most memorable moments on The Tempest contingent upon the fact Ariel is a good spirit who sometimes it is only seen by Prospero, it makes true all the wishes of Prospero as he helped him to escape from a curse made by witch Sycorax.

It is Caliban the son of that witch, Sycorax, a monstrous slave who is mentioned on the scene. Witchcraft was a very serious issue on that epoch, being accused of it was really stern, it was assured witches made love with the devil, Sycorax as a result, could be considered to be a relative of a demon. Caliban does not apply any clever instructions but it is a certainty from Prospero, perhaps it is not the reality. The Tempest Read this in Spanish La tempestad William Shakespeare

Imagining Donald Trump´s winning

Funny, clever, intelligent, amusing, jocular, witty, droll and also real!!!. I do not include content written by others, yet I am doing it today as this piece of writing about Donald Trump published on The Guardian Newspaper deserves it, it is a speech Donald Trump would say once he becomes president of United States made with sentences he has been saying during the election campaign. Donald Trump as his best and The Guardian newspaper reporting it

DONALD TRUMP
Election night, 8 November 2016
Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach, Florida
Thank you! Thank you all! This is beautiful! You’re amazing people! Amazing! I love you all!
Can you believe this? Great evening. We will be celebrating for a long time tonight. Of course if you listen to the pundits, we weren’t expected to win.
We won with evangelicals. We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated.
It’s so great to be in Florida. It’s so great to be at Mar-a-Lago with friends and the press and the media and everybody.
What a turnout! They have 6,000 people outside that can’t get in. The press will never report how many people are here. They’re horrible people. Absolutely dishonest. Absolute scum.
I’ll be the greatest unifier of all! My wife is always saying, “Darling, be more presidential”. I can be more presidential than anybody!
Everything that’s been involved in Hillary has been losses. She was favored to win and she got schlonged!
According to Drudge, according to Time Magazine, I won every single debate on every single poll. If I acted presidential, I guarantee you I wouldn’t be here.

Making fun of Donald Trump
We’re being laughed at all over the world. So our country needs a truly great leader. I’m going to represent our country with dignity very, very well. I’m a solid, stable person. I’m a man of great achievement. I went to an Ivy League school. I’m like a really smart person.
I don’t have to brag. I don’t have to, believe it or not. I built an empire. I own some of the greatest assets in the world. I built up a net worth of much more than $10bn. I have never gone bankrupt, or close. But I use the bankruptcy laws, but so does everybody else. Nobody knows the banking system better than me. I understand business better than anyone that’s ever run. We sell water. We sell steaks. And by the way, you want to take one; we charge you about, what, 50 bucks a steak. We make the finest wine as good a wine as you can get in the world. Everything I’ve done virtually has been a success. I’m the most successful person ever to run for president.

I have a great temperament, very calm. The doctor said: “You have the blood pressure of a great, great athlete who’s 20 years old.” I get along with everybody.
[Commotion on the ballroom floor]

Get him out of here! Get him out! I’d like to punch him in the face! These people; where do they come from? Go home to mommy! Go home to mommy!
[Security escort protester from the ballroom while the crowd chants: USA! USA! USA!]
Hey, do we love our police in this country?
Our people take care of our people, right?

Donald Trump on Playboy magazine
The biggest story in all of politics worldwide right now, and I think you might agree to this, is what’s happened. Millions and millions of people have come to the Republican Party. Folks, I’m a conservative but at this point, who cares?
I want to thank my family, Melania, my boys Eric and Don. Ivanka and Jared. I want to thank my boy Barron.
[He forgets to mention daughter Tiffany, daughter of his second ex-wife Marla Maples.]
I have so many friends up here. They are special, special people. Carl Icahn endorsed me. Chris Christie and Sarah Palin and Jerry Falwell Jr. Mike Tyson endorsed me. Bobby Knight was unbelievable. Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Nobody has seen anything like it.
So here’s the story, we have to be cheerleaders. I want to do something that’s going to make our country feel good. We’re like a third world country. Our whole system is badly, badly broken. If we don’t fix it we’re not going to have a country anymore. Our military is a disaster. Our healthcare is a horror show. Common Core is a total disaster. We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country. It’s the greatest theft in the history of the world.
When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. We either have a country or we don’t.

Who’s going to pay for the wall?
[Crowd] Mexico!
Who?
[Crowd] Mexico!
The wall will go up and Mexico will start behaving!
The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics! They love me! I love them! Everybody loves me!
So I bring people together. I have a great relationship with African Americans, as you possibly have heard. I just have great respect for them. And they like me. I don’t have a racist bone in my body.
Believe it or not, I have a lot of friends that are Muslim. I want mosques surveilled. We’re allowing people to come into this country that we have absolutely no idea who they are, where they come from. We’re going to straighten it out folks. I love the Muslims.
I love women. I will take care of women like nobody else can. Hillary Clinton said you shouldn’t cherish women. If Hillary can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America? I do cherish women. Nobody in this country, and maybe in the history of the country, politically, was worse than Bill Clinton with women. He was a disaster.
I will take care of women like nobody else can. Ivanka said: “Dad, you respect and love women so much but people don’t really understand how you feel.”
My wife said: “You know if you run, you know you’re going to win.” She’s actually very smart. Melania, say something. Go ahead, please.
[Melania Trump steps to the microphone and speaks]
Congratulations to my husband, he was working very hard. And he loves you.
[Trump returns to the microphone]
We’re tired of being the stupid people! So we will repeal and replace Obamacare with something terrific. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created. We’re going to make great trade deals. I’m the strongest guy militarily that you could ever have. I know more about Isis than the generals do.
We’re going to have a great relationship with China; we’re going to have a great relationship with Putin. He called me “a genius”. I will get along with others, and we will have a much more stable, stable world.
We are totally predictable. We tell everything. We’re sending troops. We tell them. We’re sending something else. We have a news conference. We have to be unpredictable. And we have to be unpredictable starting now!

When you talk about the nuclear button, the ones I’m worried about are the other people on the other side that have the nuclear. But don’t worry about me.
And finally, you will be so proud of your country again and we’ll start winning, winning winning. You’re going to say, “Mr. President, we can’t take it anymore”. And I’m going to say, ‘We’re going to win, win, win’! And we’re going to make America great again!
Look at those hands, are they small hands? I guarantee you there’s no problem.
I guarantee. My hands are fine. You know, my hands are normal. Slightly large, actually. In fact, I buy a slightly smaller than large glove, okay?
I don’t want people to go around thinking that I have a problem.
Thank you very much everybody. We love you. The people of this country are absolutely amazing!

AC/DC Axl Rose

This is life and this is Rock and Roll and even this is AC/DC. After many years of silence AC/DC premiered a new brand album in 2014 Rock and Bust that it was not bad but above all it was an opportunity for them to be back on the road as AC/DC profits a lot from live performances. All of a sudden, brother of Angus Young and one of its founding members, Malcolm Young was sick with dementia hence he entered into a mental Institution. Soon thereafter, drummer of AC/DC was arrested due to drug possession, a thorny issue it has not been cleared as yet. However, the worst was still to take place, after touring the world, singer Brian Johnson was obliged to quit because of a serious hearing loss, if he were to keep singing he was going to be completely deaf. What could AC/DC attempt if some dates were already settled? Did you remember Axl Rose from Guns and Roses?

AC/DC Axl Rose

Axl Rose was an iconic rockstar, Guns and Roses were hugely successful, however, there was a feud between the singer and the rest of the band, Guns and Roses disappeared in consequence all the remaining members created other bands such as Velvet Revolver and the main guitar Slash had plenty of musical projects. Axl Rose disappeared, he even had mental issues, later on he was back with a new Guns and Roses album and now it seems he had come to terms with the situation and he has launch Guns and Roses one more time with former bandmates but the most incredible thing is that AC/DC have recruited him to perform the remaining dates of AC/DC Rock and Bust tour. To make matters worse, Axl Rose broke his leg and he had to sing like you are to see now on the first new concert of AC/DC with Axl Rose, see it by yourself!!! Thank God Angus Young is still alive and rocking!!!!!

The Kills, Ash and Ice.

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, aka The Kills are back with a new album called Ash and Ice. Some months ago we talked about how we were thinking   Canadian rapper Drake may have copied The Kills song The good ones to create his hit Hotline bling. The Kills Today, we announce the new brand album Ash and ice by The Kills

THE KILLS ANS AND ICE
The Kills Ash and Ice
The Kills

Ice and ash refers to the habit of Jamie Hince who started writing a song but he only came up with the title "Ice and ash" as he is more focused on the sound than on writing lyrics. Soon thereafter, he was back to his usual duty, drinking and smoking, after every cigarette he put the stub on an empty glass, the cigarette perhaps it was not tobacco and the glass perhaps was not full of soda but the funny fact is that, ash references to that dead cigarette and ice to the empty glass he leaves. Alison Mosshart decided to use the title for the whole album as there were no lyrics for the song. Alison Mosshart by contrast, spends plenty of time writing the lyrics. She went to a place called Whidbey island on the coast of Seattle, she spent ten days with no Internet, no television nor mobile phone, she was writing alone, she was reading as well the book The Heart of a dog, even though it has nothing to do with the story on the play she used the title writing a song about having a loyal heart as good as the one dogs are possessed with. Heart of a dog and Doing it to death are the two more important songs on the album thus far. The Kills are to be touring the world throughout 2016. The Kills offers a bounteous reward to those who see them thereby there is a great opportunity of enjoying them live. Jamie Hince has had his 6th operation in one of his fingers hence his way of guitar playing has changed dramatically. Alison Mosshart undergo surgery on a knee too, she also contributes to one of the bands of Jack White, The Dead Weather, discover which song by The Dead Weather was selected amongst the best rock songs of last year. Alison Mosshart. Do share, rate and comment this post about The Kills.
