“La cortina de humo” es una película interpretada por Robert de Niro y Dustin Hoffman muy interesante, resulta que el presidente de los Estados Unidos se ve envuelto en un escándalo sexual y para desviar la atención mediática, Robert De Niro (que trabaja para el Gobierno) contrata a Dustin Hoffman que es un director de cine.

La oposición quiere sacar tajada de la oportunidad que se presenta por lo que Robert De Niro y Dustin Hoffman planean, inventan y ejecutan una crisis en Albania y así evitar que las noticias sobre el escándalo sexual se propaguen por todos lados, nadie amenaza a los Estados Unidos, lo que ven en televisión es ficticio. Incluso se contrata a una joven actriz para que interprete a una albanesa y a un cantautor y publicar así una canción  haciendo todo más creíble, se apela a los sentimientos y no a la razón. Todo es una farsa. La gracia es comprobar como se puede manejar a la gente desde los medios de comunicación. La película es entretenida y tiene momentos muy interesantes. De hecho, es uno de los mejores papeles de Robert De Niro en los años 90 y Dustin Hoffman fue nominado al Oscar.

¿Qué tiene que ver esto con España?

A finales de mayo, se jugó la final de la Copa del Rey entre el Barcelona y el Athletic de Bilbao, la polémica estaba servida y calentada (declaraciones de Esperanza Aguirre)  ya que se abrió (otra vez) el debate sobre los pitidos al Rey y al himno, al mismo tiempo, el presidente del Gobierno y el líder de la Oposición se reunían para hablar del rescate a Bankia, una entidad privada, con dinero público. (24 mil millones de euros después de haber recortado en Sanidad, Educación y I+D).

                 

Al día siguiente, todo el mundo hablaba del partido, de los pitidos e incluso de Shakira que está enamorada de un futbolista y se consiguió que el tema del rescate a Bankia con dinero público quedara en segundo plano, ¿la fecha elegida para tan importante acuerdo y movimiento fue casualidad o la película "La cortina de humo" enseña demasiado?

"Wag the dog" is a really good movie, it tells about the story of a false war in Albania which is used by a worker from the United States Government in order to trick the people of America so that they do not pay attention to a sexual scandal in which the president is involved. Robert De Niro played the role of this US official who hires a film-maker played by Dustin Hoffman and together planned a false US invasion in Albania, country no many people know of, everybody believes the Army and the whole country must invade Albania as they see images on television while it is only an invention. Nobody is threating America. The opposition wants to take advantage of the President´s sexual affair but as the US Government has a war in Albania the attention changes suddenly. The producer will do anything to create this false war, an actress plays the role of an Albanian girl, a songwriter is hired... everything counts!!

                        

How the hell concerns this film Spain? As it follows...

Barcelona and Bilbao were playing the final of “Copa del Rey” and everybody was focus on whether people whistle the King and the Official hymn. Meanwhile, Rajoy, the Spanish president and Rubalcaba, the leader of the opposition were talking about the money the Government was going to lend to a private entity named Bankia. (24 000 million of euros which were borrowed from the public sector) The following day, papers were talking about the match, the disrespect towards the King and the Hymn and even of Shakira who is in love with a footballer and people did not pay all the attention to the meeting and the agreement.

Wag the dog, a great movie inasmuch as it shows in a humorous way how people in power are able to fool everybody in order to achieve their targets. Do you think the date of the reunion was a coincide?
